I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July this year! We had a really great evening having family over for a bbq followed by going to my in-laws to watch the local fireworks show!
Dinner consisted of ribs, brats and barbeque chicken. Sides were loaded baked potato salad, cauliflower salad, hummus with organic flaxseed chips, and triple berry cheesecake for dessert! I also offered for munching, fresh local picked cherries and rosemary parmesan popcorn!
Here’s a few of the many pics I took that day!

I’ve been just itching to begin some really exciting projects for the hubby and I… He’s so busy and some things I can’t do on my own, so we are on a short break for at least another week! So please, keep checking back for updates! We have some really exciting projects coming, ekkk!!!
Despite our every day busy-ness, I always make time for my pictures 🙂 LOVE them!
This month is an exciting one for our family! We have family visiting from the West Coast, birthdays, Christians’ starts FIRST grade (omgsh!), a great friend is getting married, and vaca 🙂 Looking forward to it all!

It’s funny how much you read about this “hallmark” holiday. People love it or hate it. And I completely agree that it shouldn’t take a holiday to let your loved one feel loved. My husband and I do take part in the Valentine celebrations.. Every year him and our son come in with chocolates, roses and a sweet card 🙂 I don’t “need” the sweet gifts, but it definitely makes me feel special!

My gorgeous red roses and card 🙂 |
This Valentines Day, I planned something special for my Nana. It will be three years this year, she has been widowed, and she always seems sad around holidays without my Papaw. So this year, I thought it would be really sweet if my son, Christian, surprised her!! We made her a card out of supplies we already had at home. Just a little tip: do not try to multi- task when doing this..(I was talking to my mom on the phone while writing and clearly wrote crooked and started to misspell “red”, oh boy)! I asked my son what restaurant he would enjoy eating at with Nana and he chose Red Lobster. I bought a gift certificate and taped it to the inside of the card. He is going to show up with a single red rose and present her the card! This will really make her day 🙂

This year, we went the little nontraditional route in gingerbread making; we bought a gingerbread house kit from Target. I figured it would make things much simpler and less expensive than buying all of the supplies needed.
I just couldn’t seem to get the walls to stay standing, and one piece ended up falling and breaking. This made my son upset, so I told him maybe daddy would be better at making it! So, daddy and Christian sat down at the table, and didn’t move for two hours.. They were soo excited about their finished product, and I was pretty impressed! Christian told me they made that house for ME with love 🙂 my boy!
My husband did say, he didn’t like the gingerbread kit idea; it takes the creativity away from making your own special house.. So, next year we will opt for our usual graham crackers, icing and goodies!
4 days until Christmas!!
